Santa Claus has been portrayed as everything, from an elf to a tall gaunt man. He has worn a Norse huntsman’s animal skin and a bishop's robe. The modern-day Santa is a blend of a variety of stories from different countries.
Santa Claus is usually represented as a jolly, plump, white-bearded man wearing white-cuffed red trousers, a thick red coat with white cuffs and collar, white gloves, heavy-duty black leather belt and boots. There are regional differences in the costumes that Santa wears. In the United States, he wears a velvet jacket or a fleece and pants with a belt, matching fur trimmed boots and hat. In some European countries, he wears a long red robe with a hood.

- Put a red jacket to match the trousers. The wooly border around the hood and sleeves keep Santa warm on a cold Christmas Eve.
- Add a wide black leather belt with a gold buckle over your jacket. This should be quite tight so that your tummy spills over it slightly.
- If you do not have a real moustache and beard like Santa Claus, then wear a fake white moustache and beard.
- Wear a wig of wavy white hair to go with your beard.
- Wear some half moon spectacles at the end of your nose.
- Put on a light red color hat with white feathery trim. Slide the back over your head while holding the trim at the front. Let the pomp-pomp dangle down at one side over your shoulder.
- Slip on some white gloves on your hands.
- At last, put your hands on your belt buckle or on your belly and let out your best ‘Ho Ho Ho!’
